The Tainan-based SM are know for coining the phrase "Taiwan Happy Punx," which has become an umbrella term for most Taiwan punk, but first appeared on their logo and stickers. SM's sound is characterized by their happy-go-lucky pop punk vocals and simple chord progressions with occasional Taiwanese folk riffs and ska rhythms. In 2006, SM released their first EP on the local Saucebox Records.
Over the years, SM have promoted several punk rock events in the southern city of Tainan going under the name Tainan Punk Union. In their early days, they joined the Vicious Circle Nite showcase alongside bands like Sugar Lady and Silly What? and since then have played at numerous shows around the island.
